AUDITIONS
Seeking dancers with technical/artistic abilities and/or potential who possess a level of maturity and character suited for IB programming.
Academy Scholarship Audition
August 16, 2026
Between 1-4 pm (time assigned after pre-registration)
Somerville Center - 2172 River Rd., Greer, SC
IB Scholarship Auditions are open to students age 7-17 who are interested in serious ballet training.
To be considered for a scholarship, students must demonstrate:

A natural talent or ability for dance/movement

The potential to be trained (focus/work ethic)

Financial need

Students aged 7-11
prior experience in ballet is not required
Students aged 12-14
must have some dance background/experience/training
Students aged 15-17
must have classical ballet training
(with experience en pointe for girls)
Scholarship(s) awarded will be for training from September 2026 through May 2027 and will be applied evenly over a 9-month period. Training commitment is for the 9-month period. Regular attendance is required. If student does not complete the 9-month commitment, or is frequently tardy/absent, scholarship for remaining months is forfeited. (No cash value.) Scholarship award recipients must display and maintain good behavior and a helpful community/service minded attitude.
​The IB Scholarship Program is funded by tax-deductible donations from generous Greenville community businesses, individuals and families committed to furthering training in the art of classical ballet for young people in our community. Scholarships awarded are based on current donations received annually toward Scholarship Funds.

2026 Nutcracker Auditions
Audition Date: August 29, 2026

NUTCRACKER 2026 POLICIES & PROCEDURES

Must be 8 years old by September 1, 2026.

Must be enrolled as an IB student taking the minimum required ballet classes for your assigned level.

Audition does not guarantee casting.

Siblings/parents/guardians are not encouraged to wait in the lobby before, after and during rehearsals. Families with multiple students in separate rehearsals should be able to drop off and pick up according to rehearsal schedule.

Cast members will not be permitted in the building any earlier than 30 minutes prior to their rehearsal time. Cast members must leave promptly after rehearsals.

All efforts will be made to schedule rehearsals in a way that minimizes wait time if cast members have multiple parts.

Rehearsals will take place on Saturdays and will start September 12, 2026. Specific schedules will be included with casting announcements.

We will perform The Nutcracker at the Peace Center on December 19-20, 2026. In addition, rehearsal at the theater will take place on December 17-18 and may require absence from academic school. You must be able to attend all rehearsals & performances at the theater.

Parents and cast members will be expected to make responsible decisions when bringing their child to the studio or theater. If student is showing signs of sickness (fever, cough, etc.), they should stay home.

If cast, you will be encouraged (not required) to sign-up for one volunteer duty. This volunteer duty can be fulfilled by cast member, sibling, parent, guardian, friend, etc.

Cast members will be charged a $225 Nutcracker fee. This includes all rehearsals, costumes, Nutcracker t-shirt, backstage meal and video performance link. Sibling discounts do not apply.

The Nutcracker Party Parent Audition

Audition Location: Somerville Center (2172 River Road)
Audition Cost: $30 (cash or check upon arrival)

No previous dance experience required

Female role: 18+, 5'2 and taller

Male roles: 18+, 5'8 and taller
The performances will be December 19-20, 2026, at the Peace Concert Hall and rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings from 7:30-9:00pm, September 24 - October 29. Additional rehearsals will be required on Saturday afternoons in November as well as December 17 & 18.
Personal costume requirements if selected:
Female roles: hair attachment, black character shoes, long character skirt for rehearsals, accessories
Male roles: Black dress shoes

Youth Company Auditions
The International Ballet Youth Company is a selective, audition-based performance group for the serious advanced dancer. Youth Company dancers uphold minimum class requirements for their respective levels, also attending a weekly company class and designated rehearsals.

Audition Requirements

$25 fee (check or cash upon arrival) - fee waived for current Trainees

Maximum age: 17 years old or still in high school in Fall 2026 (or permission from Artistic Director if 18+ and not in high school).

1+ years pointe experience

Current placement in IB's Ballet 3A or above and one year pointe experience

Evaluated on ballet technique, artistry, musicality, maturity, and work ethic

Wear your class level leotard color and bring pointe shoes

Cassandra Gary Memorial Scholarship

This Scholarship was created to honor the memory of Cassandra Cook Gary, mother of IB Alumna Cara Marie Gary

Merit Scholarship (need-blind)

Recipient must be a member of the IB Pre-Professional Company

Applications (including a personal essay) reviewed by the Gary family in consultation with the IB artistic staff
