Placement in the lower division is based on a combination of many factors, including age, ability, coordination, maturity, strength, cognition, and group interaction. Students often spend several years in each level as they progress and develop their skills.

Mommy & Me
An interactive movement class designed for young dancers (18 months+) and their parent/caregiver. Each class will introduce the dancing duo to exercises to develop rhythm, coordination skills, spatial relationships, and social skills. Toddling dancers will improve cognitive development by using story-time imagination.

The class focuses on creative movement, musicality, basic positions, movements, and terms of classical ballet, with mat and center-based exercises to develop skills.
Students must be potty trained upon enrollment, and will not be allowed to enroll until they have reached their 3rd birthday.

CLASS PLACEMENT IS MOSTLY BASED ON AGE:
PRE-BALLET A: 3-4 YEARS OLD
PRE-BALLET A/B: 4-5 YEARS OLD
PRE-BALLET B: 5+ YEARS OLD
Class is structured around mat-based conditioning exercises and center-work focusing on musicality, strength, proper form, flexibility, coordination, and classical ballet terminology and movements.

CLASS: 1 HOUR, 1-2 TIMES A WEEK
AGE REQUIREMENT: 7+
ELIGIBLE FOR: STUDIO PERFORMANCE GROUP (SPG), NUTCRACKER AUDITIONS (8+ YEARS OLD)
Students build upon their developed skills, integrating conditioning exercises with introductory barre work and expanded center-work, attending class twice a week to increase consistency.
Students attend a Demo Class (choose one), and an additional class for a total of two times a week.
CLASS COLOR: LAVENDER/ORCHID
CLASS: 1.5 HOURS, 2 TIMES A WEEK
AGE REQUIREMENT: 9+
ELIGIBLE FOR: CONTEMPORARY 2, STUDIO PERFORMANCE GROUP (SPG), NUTCRACKER AUDITIONS (8+ YEARS OLD)
Students with an established ballet foundation learn modern-influenced movement in contemporary class, focusing on a grounded approach, floor work, barefoot articulation, expanded upper body and torso movement with improvisational/partner-work concepts when appropriate. Emphasis on musicality, fluidity, coordination and rhythm with a wide variety of music/movement influence.

DRESS CODE: LEGGINGS, SHORTS, OR TIGHTS. LEOTARD, TANK OR T-SHIRT. BAREFOOT OR SOCKS.

FEE (SEPARATE): SPRING $175, FALL $175, FULL YEAR: $350
CLASS TIME: WEDNESDAY 4:30-6:00PM
IN-STUDIO PERFORMANCE: LAST WEEK OF CLASSES EACH SEMESTER,
FREE TICKETS (LIMITED QTY AVAILABLE IN OFFICE)
Learn and Perform a “Mini Ballet” version of a classic, full-length ballet
Open to All IBA students in Ballet 1-3
1.5 Hour class, once a week
A wonderful introduction to performance skills for younger students
Excellent preparation for company-level performance for older students
Work together with peers as well as students at different levels
In-studio performance each semester with costumes, props, and simple sets for family and friends
Students may participate in Fall, Spring, or both
Examples of past performances include Swan Lake, Coppelia, Cinderella, Giselle, & Sleeping Beauty
